Come and join the mart, where it’s real competitors, real customers, real money and real profits. After all, "IT’S BUSINESS"
Event Format
Participants will be required to come up with an ‘innovative’ business idea which they think will make money during ENGINEER. MINT will span over three days with each team participating for one day. Each team will be provided with a stall approximately 64 sq.ft.(8X8). They will have to run the stall for duration of six hours. The initial investment will have to be made by the team members themselves. The upper limit on the initial investment is Rs.5000 per team. Teams retain the profits they make.
Stage 1
Submission of Executive Summary
Teams will be required to submit
- Executive Summary : This summary should contain the following items:
- Business idea
- Marketing and Sales Analysis
- Cash flow diagrams.
- Balance Sheet projection for the business.
- Exit Strategy.
- Team Details and work distribution.
- Situation Analysis.
- What will you do if another team is selling the same product as you?
- What strategy will you adopt if your business is going dry after two hours?
- What will you do if the demand is more than the supply?
- What will you do if the customer feels that your product is not cost effective?
- Mail your executive summary to mint@engineer.org.in on or before 15th October
Stage 2
Mentoring sessions Teams short-listed by the judges based on their executive summaries will move to the second stage. Innovation, Business viability and Marketability will be the factors on which the teams will be short listed. Short listed teams will be provided with mentors having different areas of expertise. The mentors will advice the teams on various aspects of the business plan. The mode of communication between the mentors and the teams will be decided by the mentors.
Stage 3
Teams Selected for the third round will have to implement their business for span of 1-2 days at NITK during engineer. Details on this will be updated on the site.
Rules and Regulations
- All members of the team have to be college students.
- A team may comprise a maximum of 5 members
- Only legal businesses are allowed.
- Businesses involving gambling and piracy are strictly prohibited.
- Teams are required to maintain their account books. These will be audited at time during the event. Defaulters will be disqualified.
- Conduction of the business should not disrupt any event and create any kind of pollution.
- Teams cannot put up banners of registered trademarks.
NOTE: The organizing committee is not responsible for the profit and loss of any team. All disputes are subject to the discretion of the organizing committee. Their decision will be final and binding.
