Event Introduction

A city X has been relying on out of date and unplanned road transport system. The city has a traffic flood. The saturation on its roads has resulted in massive delays to its commuter, increased air and noise pollution has choked the city’s infrastructure and growth. The Govt. plans to create a means of rapid transport in the city which could meet the requirement of the city, be reasonably easy to build and maintain and convenient to commuters. Any reasonable means of transport can be adopted. The suggested means would include metro, monorail, high speed/high density bus etc. The public transport should attract private vehicle users to public transport. Govt. invites design for this project. You are required to design the master plan for this project.

Event Format

• Means selected and its layout (proposed) across the city.
• Execution time frames or phased planning.
• Estimate for land acquisition and construction.
• General description (technical) of the type of construction method to be followed.

• Any means of transport can be adopted as long as it is feasible and reasonable..
• All roadways have been fixed. No acquisition can be made for roadway.
• Land for other means of transport has to be acquired.
• Land for bus stations, metro stations etc have to be acquired.
• A map (AutoCAD) of layout is mandatory.
• No demolitions on the current state of city are permitted.
• Selected teams will be required to present their idea and model in front of the jury.
• No budget limits. Tenders are invited with no caps. The one found economical and the most convenient would be given preference.
