Event Introduction

Event Format

• The library is situated at Mangalore. The area of the site is 3000 sq.m.(60m x 50m)
• The library is meant for an Educational Institute, comprising of Technical, Basic Science and Medical students. The Institute has 12,000 students.
• The library should have all the basic facilities. References to National Building Code and relevant standards may be mentioned.
• The participants are free to use any material for the construction. The economy of the building should also be duly considered.
• In the post construction stage the participants are required to estimate the daily consumption of energy.
• The reduction in consumption of conventional energy as estimated by the participant may be arrived at by use of alternate sources of energy and natural light and circulation.
• An illustration of the plan, elevation and section showing maximum details of the library layout, circulation and lighting should be provided. This can be done either using any CAD software preferably AutoCAD. 3D renderings of lighting details may be done.
• The library should have reading facilities for 500 students at a time, stationery and copying facilities, digital library, projection room, subscription database, multiple search counters, conference hall for minimum 100 people, rest room, cafeteria etc distributed at suitable locations. Also separate access and for staff, security, maintenance etc is required. Any other innovative ideas beyond these will be highly appreciated.
• Provisions should be made for the accessibility of physically challenged.
