Event Introduction

An industry requires people who can observe, analyze, test and conclude, where the problems that you face are no longer found at a chapter´s end in a text book. All that you need to do here is to capitalize on your information gathering skills and reveal the phenomenon taking place or the nature of the given sample. Efficient use of resources, time management, creativity and some knowledge about materials are a few prerequisites of this event.

In brief, here, you will have to analyze the given data and make use of the facilities and resources that we provide to conduct tests and draw logical conclusions. The ultimate aim is to figure out the metallurgical properties of the given unknown material. So, the only preparation that you need to do is to buckle up your shoes and come over. We´ll take care of the rest!

Event Format

• The Data interpretation round: Here, you will be given a set of data, which you should interpret and use it to report as many results or specific properties as possible.
• The Experimental round: In this round, you will have to carry out experiments by making use of the instruments and resources that we provide. Grading will be done based on what you infer from the experiment and how accurate it is.

Rules and Regulations

• In the first round, the participants will be judged for their acuity and knowledge in material property. The second round will judge their expertise in performing the experiment.
• Based on the number of teams and resources available, the teams may or may not be eliminated after the first round. Elimination, if any, will be purely based on the score of the team in the first round.
