Event Introduction

Professor Phillip Brainard, an absent minded professor, works with his assistant Weebo, creates the famous substance flubber(gooey substance on the hand flows like a cream if you treat it gently and has tendency to bounce a lot), but disaster strikes and flubber goes missing. If it falls in wrong hands humanity could bounce into space even gravity will not be able to stop us. Worried about the consequences he appoints 5 teams of able individuals consisting of 3 members each selected through Brainardstorm test. Professor Brainard requires people with high level survey skills to locate important universities spread around the world to gain clues about the whereabouts of the flubber.

The basic idea of the event is to spread awareness about importance of survey in expedition projects along with a test of logical and analytical skills of the participants.

Event Format

Prelims (Brainardstorm):
A quiz based on general aptitude questions and encompassing general Surveying Topics such as
  • Fundamental concepts of Surveying
  • Accuracy and Errors
  • Different methods of surveying
  • The Compass and Spirit Level
  • Theodolite (Construction and use)
  • Omitted measurements (Lengths and angles)
  • Different types of Bearings
  • Levelling
  • Trigonometric Levelling
  • Tacheometry
  • Area and Volume measurements

Finale:
5 teams will be selected from the preliminary round. Finalists will have to survey a particular piece of land representing the flattened globe, to find the whereabouts of the flubber. The wining team will be duly awarded by the professor.

Rules and Regulations

  • Teams should comprise of three members.
  • There will be two rounds.
  • The Brainardstorm test will test your basic knowledge in survey.
  • Teams selected will move on to the finale.
