Welcome to Foxhunt, Engineer's only event for enthusiasts who want to get down and dirty in the world of HAM radios. This event requires no previous knowledge of antennae or radio receiver construction and invites all enthusiasts to participate and enjoy their game!

Number of members in a team: max 4

Our story begins at a time when war has broken out. You and your friends are among the elite members chosen from your institute to assist in the elimination of the enemy threat.

But believe me, it won’t be easy. You will have to pass tests of ability before you set out on to the ultimate battle; finding the enemy base and destroying it.

Round 1: Will be a written test of your skills and knowledge on certain principles that are integral to the mission. Test is at 9:00 AM

Round 2: Teams who have proved their worth in the written test will have to practically prove their knowledge now. A senior official will transmit (in plaintext of in coded form) 3-4 different locations which you must receive and decipher using your HAM radio antenna and follow  the instructions to reach the location as quickly as possible. This is a test of speed and ability and the first 5 teams that cover the locations in the shortest time are selected for the final round. THE ATTACK ON THE ENEMY BASECAMP. Workshop is at 2-5 PM

Final round: The 5 selected teams must find the enemy base camp by intercepting signals from the enemy's HAM radio. You must decipher this information and try to locate the source of this signal. If successful, you will call for backup and the enemy will be destroyed. But tread carefully, NOTHING IS AS EASY AS IT SEEMS. Final Round is on Friday, timings will be informed.

Please note:

  1. The teams that qualify through the written test(round 1) will be provided the materials and will be helped to build the antenna that works in the range of 144-146MHz. Particiaptns are however required to bring earphones or headphones with a compatible stereo female socket, or an 8 Ohm speaker.
  2. The test will comprise of questions from basic electronics and aptitude.People who arrive equipped with their own antenna will be given a bypass to the ROUND 2 without having to pass ROUND 1. The circuit and antenna should be shown to the organizers in order to evaluate the complexity of the setup as compared to the setup provided by the organizers to other participants.
  3. Experience in soldering will be advantageous.
  4. Things that amount to disqualification are listed below.
    1. Usage of a commercial antenna.
    2. Usage of mobile phones or other means of communication between teams during the final event.
    3. Usage of FM transmitters in the range 144-146 MHz.
