Be an innovator and walk on the lines of change. A simple event based on line follower robotics. You are required to build a line follower robot that will seamlessly switch over from a black to white line or vice versa and complete the path in the shortest possible time. Participate in this innovative event and hone your robotic skills.
- The goal of the robot is to traverse the path from the start point to the end in the shortest amount of time.
- Each team will be given 10 minutes in which they can start the attempt a maximum of 3 times in which the best time of a single run will be recorded for the results.
- The robot may not deviate completely from the path at any time.
- The robot is expected to stop automatically at the end of the path which is going to be a circle of same colour as the line preceding it.
- The arena will have both black lines on a white background and white lines on black background.
- The width of the path to be followed is 3cm.
- There will be a switch over from the white line to black line in multiple places in the arena.
- The switch will NOT be located on a curved line or on a turn. Their will be at least 5cm of straight line before and after the switch over. This is to avoid the complexity of having a switch on a curved line or a turn.
- There can be any number of switch overs between black and white lines.
- The lines may be straight, curved or have 90 degree turns.
- There will be no branches on the arena.
- The arena will not have any loops.
- The distance between two parallel lines will be a minimum of 15 cm.
- The beginning of the maze is not marked, but all team will start from the same point on the arena which is specified by the organizers.
- The end of the path will be marked by a black circle (if background is white) or white circle(if background is black) of 10cm in diameter.
- All dimensions may have an error of ±5%.

-
- The robot should be completely autonomous and self contained; external computers not allowed.
- The robot should fit into a box of dimensions 25cm x 25cm x 25cm.
- There is no weight restriction.
- The robot cannot expand beyond the given dimensions at any time during the event.
- The robot may have any type of sensor as long as it remains within the robot dimensions and not harm the arena.
- Ready made sensor circuits are not allowed. The sensor circuit must be designed and made by you.
- The robot is required to have an onboard power source not based on combustion.
- The maximum voltage between any two points on the robot should not exceed 12 volts.
- Use of Lego kits or other ready-made kits is strictly prohibited. For details, please mail the specifications of your PCB with an attached image to elecevents@engineer.org.in.
- Ready made microcontroller boards and libraries will be allowed.
- Sharp objects on the robot which may damage or mark the arena will lead to disqualification of the team.
- A maximum of 4 members may be present in one team.
- Total time allotted is 10 minutes.
- The arena layout will not be shown until all the robots are given to the committee.
- However a small sample arena will be available before the contest for calibration and testing.
- The test arena will be made of same materials as the full-size and will be placed in similar lighting conditions.
- After the arena is revealed, no modifications of any type may be made to the robots, including software or hardware changes.
- When it is the turn for the team, a total of 10 min will be given.
- In the given 10 min the person may calibrate the robot within a given time of 1 min.
- The team will have a maximum of three attempts within given 10 mins.
- In case no team is able to complete the path, the judges will decide upon the winner.
- Judges' decision will be final and binding in all cases.
