Metamorphosis, a trademark of Materials Events at ENGINEER was conceptualized to give students a practical insight into real-world industrial problems. Faced with a problem that is to be tackled on several fronts simultaneously, the event breaks every drawback associated with textbook learning. Metamorphosis is designed so as to provide a platform for participants from all years to learn and enhance their knowledge. An exciting topic in the field of materials and allied processes has been selected(Problem statement attached). A report on the proposed solution must be submitted. This will serve as the first criterion for qualification to the next round.

The event will be conducted in teams of upto two members. Participating teams are required to submit a complete report of their suggested solution to the given problem. Reports can be submitted as a MS Word file or PDF file to metaevents@engineer.org.in. Selection based on the report will be carried out and teams selected for the next round will be intimated about further procedures.

• Participants may register in teams of upto two members.
• Contestants are required to register online for the event.
• Participants are required to submit an abstract of their idea before October 19^th 2011. Please note that the deadline will not be extended again.
  
• Short listing will be done based on the abstract.
• Organizers decision will be final and binding.

Q) Can a new base material be suggested for the sieves?
Yes. But the choice of material must be done with care keeping in mind the pros and cons.

Q) What should the report specify? What is the expected length?
The report must clearly specify all the procedures and theoretical justifications of the proposed solution. Details regarding format and content of the report are given in the attached problem statements.

Q) What are the deadlines for registering and submitting the report?
Participants MUST register and submit their reports by 15th October 2011. Teams will be put on the mailing list immediately after registration. All updates regarding Metamorphosis will be sent to participants.

Q) Is there any registration fee for the event?
No, the event is entirely free. But pre-registration is mandatory for participating in this event.

Q) Is instrumental knowledge necessary for Metamorphosis?
The feasibility of the submitted report will be tested by Buhler, the sponsors for the event, in their lab. Knowledge of instruments is hence, not necessary.
