The Institute is located 22 kilometers north of Mangalore City along the Mumbai-Kochi National Highway 17, now NH 66, amid 300 acres of sylvan surroundings with the picturesque Western Ghats on the east and sun- kissed sands of the Arabian Sea to the west. It is known in and around Mangalore as KREC.

Getting To NITK from Mangalore/Surathkal
From Mangalore Central Railway Station:
Hire a taxi to NITK Surathkal.
You can catch a bus just outside the Mangalore Central railway station. All buses going towards Udupi/ Manipal/ Kundapura stop at NITK. Enquire before boarding the buses.
The fare from Mangalore Central railway station will cost you approximately Rs.300 for taxi, for your convenience, fix the rate before boarding the taxi.
From Surathkal Railway Station:
Catch any express bus going towards Manipal/Uudpi/Kundapura. Enquire if there is a stop at 'NITK' or 'KREC'.
The auto and taxi fares from Surathkal station are Rs.35 and Rs.80 respectively.
From Airport:
Hire a taxi to NITK, Surathkal. Inside the campus, get down at the main building.
The taxi fare would be Rs 500.
Use the prepaid taxi service at the airport.
No buses are available at the airport. You will have to walk a long distance downhill and alight express or Volvo buses to the college, if you prefer using buses.
NOTE:
At Kankanadi railway station, bus no.11 from the station takes one to Mangalore City during the daytime. From Mangalore Railway Station(or nearby State bank busstand), all buses to Udupi, Manipal or Karkala drop you at the college Bus Stop.
Bus Routes from Mumbai, Goa and Bangalore (that terminate at Udupi-Manipal) pass through the College where visitors can disembark.
Look out for direction markers, which will be positioned at appropriate locations within the campus.
Nominal charges will be collected for availing accommodation provided by the Engineer team and for registering for Engineer.
You will have to register for Engineer first at the Office desk which will be in the Main Building. The registration and hospitality amount will have to be paid in full at Office. You will also be charged a caution deposit amount which will be refunded after you check out of your rooms.
After this you will be redirected to the Hospitality desk for the remaining process.
The Office and the Hospitality team will be based out of the Main Building.
Kindly note that you will be required to share the accommodation.
Requests for individual rooms or any other complaints in this regard will not be entertained.
The Hospitality Desk,which forms an indispensable part of Engineer,will be set in the Main Building.
The hospi desk should be your Go-To place to get an insight into the happenings at Engineer.
Participants should contact the hospi desk for queries regarding their accommodation, or any doubts about Engineer in general.
Participants must register their presence once their work at the office is done, that is, once they have paid the DA. The office allots rooms for your stay.
The hospi desk will make sure you are taken to your respective rooms.
Any discomfort with the rooms provided may be reported at the hospi desk, the problems will be taken care of as soon as possible.
When checking out of the rooms, report to the hospi desk to collect the DA money.

People reaching on 27th or 28th Oct have to pay Rs 200 + Rs 100 (caution deposit).
It is a one time payment and is not related to number of days you stay here. Caution money will be refunded in Office once you vacate the room.
